Job summary

Newport Independent Schools is seeking a bus aide to support the bus driver by maintaining discipline and safety on the route. You will help with loading, seating arrangements, and assisting students during travel to ensure a smooth, secure ride for all riders.

The position involves keeping basic records, communicating with classroom staff and parents, and following state transportation guidelines. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, with training provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safety procedures on school transportation is preferred

Responsibilities

• Maintain discipline on the bus during operation.
• Assist with loading, unloading and seating of students.
• Assist driver with documentation and record-keeping.
• Coordinate seating for pre-kindergarten students as required by guidelines.
• Communicate with classroom aides, teachers, principals and parents as appropriate.
• Attend in-service trainings as assigned.
