Job summary

Palmer Bus Service, Inc. seeks a CDL Route Driver to transport students safely to and from school, and on field trips and activities as assigned.

This role requires a Minnesota CDL with passenger, school bus and air brake endorsements, strict adherence to safety rules, and the ability to perform DOT pre-trip inspections and radio checks. You will pick up students, ensure proper seating, and report any incidents or emergencies to the Site Manager.

Qualifications

• Possession of Minnesota Commercial Driver's License with passenger, school bus and air brake endorsements.
• Strong knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
• Understand emergency evacuation techniques.
• Administer basic first aid and / or CPR if required by district.
• Knowledge of health standards and hazards.
• Understand state regulations and laws pertaining to school buses and child behavior.

Responsibilities

• Report to bus garage before scheduled departure to coordinate with dispatcher.
• Perform DOT pre-trip inspection and radio check before each route.
• Pick-up and supervise students at stops, ensuring safe boarding and seating.
• Enforce safety rules; report incidents to Site Manager for action with authorities.
• Safely operate the bus and follow traffic laws; monitor road conditions and safety.
• Check bus for passengers after arrival and ensure no child is left behind.
• Transport students to school and district-approved trips and events.
• Report accidents immediately and complete required forms.
• Maintain bus cleanliness and fuel levels; notify maintenance staff as needed.
• Attend meetings and trainings as required for job performance.
• Perform related duties to ensure efficient vehicle operation.
