Job summary

Berkeley County Schools Transportation Department in Martinsburg, WV is seeking a Bus Operator for route 413 serving Spring Mills Middle/High, Marlowe Elementary and Potomack Intermediate. Schedule runs about 5:30 am–9:00 am and 1:30 pm–4:30 pm, with possible changes to the route.

Requires high school diploma or GED, WV CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements, and successful completion of WV School Bus Safety Program; duties include inspections, student supervision, and routine paperwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; background check required under WV regulations.
• Must be at least 21 years old and have at least three years of driving experience.
• Must obtain and maintain WV CDL license with passenger and school bus endorsements.
• Must successfully complete WV School Bus Safety Program and related tests.
• Must be able to inspect the bus and operate and monitor safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre/post trip inspections.
• Learn route, including pick up and drop off locations.
• Safely use fire extinguisher.
• Assist and supervise students with disabilities.
• Communicate with students, parents, school officials and supervisors.
• Mop and clean inside and outside the vehicle.
• Complete proper paperwork.
• Work overtime as needed.
• Maintain safety and confidentiality on route.
