Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• WV Code 18-4-8c compliance.
• Ability to perform required responsibilities.
• Reports to School Bus Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Becomes familiar with West Virginia Transportation Regulations for school bus operators.
• Post copies of Regulations for Pupils Transported in School Buses and bus schedule.
• Pass physical and driving tests required.
• Perform pre-trip inspections daily.
• Prepare and keep a list of students riding the bus.
• Discharge students only at designated stops unless granted permission.
• Allow others to board only with principal or parent permission.
• Run on a regular schedule and report delays to the principal or supervisor.
• Keep self neat and clean.
• Leave school only after checking all children are loaded.
• Clean bus inside and out as directed.
• Do not allow students to extend body out of windows.
• Practice emergency unloading procedures twice per year.
• Do not leave bus with motor running; brakes set when leaving.
• Prohibit smoking on school buses at all times.
• Complete first aid course successfully.
• Ensure emergency equipment is present and in good condition.
• Complete all required reports on date requested.
• Follow Morgan County Discipline Policy.
• Be available for emergency closings.
• Report accidents or damages to transportation supervisor.
• Report needed repairs to mechanic.
• Follow railroad crossing procedures.
• Maintain positive work habits.
• Perform duties efficiently and productively.
• Maintain and/or upgrade skills.
• Perform other duties assigned by transportation supervisor.
