Ammons Transportation Service Inc is seeking a reliable School Bus Operator to join our team in Chicago, IL. You will transport students safely, on time, and maintain a positive, orderly bus environment.

A CDL with Passenger and School Bus endorsements, a clean driving record, and the ability to pass a background check, drug screen, and physical are required. Prior school bus or commercial driving experience is preferred, with good knowledge of Chicago-area roads.

Qualifications

• Clean driving record with no major violations.
• Must pass background check, drug screening, and physical examination.
• Prior school bus or commercial driving experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Chicago-area roads and traffic patterns.
• Excellent punctuality, reliability, and time management skills.
• Patient, calm demeanor with the ability to manage student behavior professionally.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport students to and from school on assigned routes in a timely manner.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure bus safety and compliance.
• Maintain order and a safe environment on the bus for all passengers.
• Follow all traffic laws, school district policies, and state transportation regulations.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, school staff, and parents as needed.
• Complete accurate daily logs, incident reports, and route documentation.
• Assist students with special needs or disabilities in boarding and exiting the vehicle when required.
