Job summary

The Dalles, Oregon-based North Wasco County School District is seeking a Transportation Coordinator to support daily operations for student transport. This 218-day position assists the Transportation Director with routing, dispatch, substitutes, records, and family communication to ensure safe, timely movement of students.

Requires a High School Diploma, CDL Class B or higher with passenger endorsement, and transportation experience in a K-12 setting; college/technical training is encouraged.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma. College or related technical/mechanical degree encouraged.
• Experience in transportation management at the K-12 level preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of transportation equipment, vehicles, and maintenance.
• Must have valid CDL (Class B) or higher with passenger endorsement at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Implements daily transportation schedules, routes, and dispatch assignments.
• Prepare and provide updates to routes and maintain attendance/trip tracking.
• Coordinate substitutes and communicate with schools, drivers, and families.
• Maintain driver files, equipment records, and CDL documentation as required.
• Advise building officials of route changes, conditions, and exceptions.
• Ensure safety, confidentiality, and compliance with district policies.
