Job summary

Onslow County Public Schools Transportation is seeking an Assistant Transportation Coordinator in Jacksonville, NC to assist the Transportation Coordinator with daily operations. You will help supervise bus drivers, maintain transportation data, and prepare required reports to ensure safe and efficient school transport services.

The role requires a High School diploma, NC CDL with P&S endorsements, and Bus Driver experience, with 2+ years clerical experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Current valid NC Commercial Driver's License with P and S endorsements.
• Experience as a Bus Driver.
• Two years related clerical experience, or an equivalent combo of education and work experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Gather and update bus run information for TIMS office and maintain current transportation data for office, drivers and schools.
• File records and perform data entry as requested.
• Fill out required reports (Principals Bus Report TD-2, Regular Pupil/Regular Bus Report TD-2R) as required.
• Inspect assigned buses for cleanliness and safety and inventory of safety kits.
• Supervise 20–40 bus drivers, assist with needs or problems that occur.
• Maintain payroll records for bus drivers and report changes to Bus Garage.
• Coordinate extra programs and report mileage and costs to Transportation Office.
• Notify mechanic of mechanical problems recorded on daily sheets.
• Investigate bus accidents and file accident reports.
• Report road hazards or issues to Supervisors.
• Schedule personnel and activity trips with schools in the area.
• Fill in on bus routes when substitute driver is unavailable.
• Any other duties as assigned by Supervisors.
