Job summary

Charlotte Valley Central School seeks an Automotive Mechanic/Bus Driver to perform skilled repair and maintenance of school buses and district vehicles, and to operate buses as required. Under the supervision of the Director of Facilities and Transportation, you will diagnose and fix mechanical systems and ensure safety on every route.

The role requires an automotive credential, appropriate experience, and a valid CDL if needed.

Qualifications

Associates degree in Automotive Technology or Automotive Mechanics OR high school tech program with relevant experience.
High school diploma/equivalency plus 2 years in automotive repair and maintenance OR 3 years full-time experience in automotive repair and maintenance.

Responsibilities

Diagnose, repair, and maintain gasoline and diesel school buses and other district vehicles.
Repair or replace motors, fuel pumps, generators, carburetors, shock absorbers, and related components.
Repair ignition systems, transmissions, brake systems, differentials, and axles.
Tune engines and set timing.
Perform minor welding repairs using acetylene cutting and welding equipment.
Use machine tools such as lathes and drill presses.
Inspect buses and equipment for needed repairs, adjustments, or part replacement.
Operate buses and other vehicles in connection with repair work.
May prepare and maintain driver time sheets and coordinate substitute coverage.
