Job summary

Palmer Bus Service, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform a wide range of basic vehicle maintenance on school buses and other company vehicles.

The role involves lubrication, filter changes, tire rotation, tire pressure checks and routine inspections to prevent wear and ensure reliability. The candidate should have basic technical knowledge, a valid Minnesota CDL with passenger, school bus and air brake endorsements, and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Basic technical knowledge expected from maintenance staff.
• Knowledge of safety practices and procedures is required.
• Must hold a Minnesota Commercial Driver’s License with passenger, school bus and air brake endorsements.
• Basic diagnostic skills to identify service requirements.
• Ability to communicate with diverse groups and follow work directions.

Responsibilities

• Apply lubricants to moving parts to prevent engine wear.
• Lubricate wheel bearings to reduce tire wear.
• Perform engine cleaning to prevent rust formation.
• Replace cabin, fuel, air and oil filters as required.
• Perform tire rotations for even wear.
• Test tire pressure and adjust as needed.
• Inspect fleet vehicles for oil leaks and other issues.
• Assist mechanics as needed and keep shop organized.
• Maintain and update repairs and maintenance records.
