Job summary

Summit School Services LLC is seeking a Fleet Technician I to service and repair our school bus fleet in Utica, NY. You will diagnose, inspect, and repair a range of diesel and gas systems, including brakes, drivetrains, electrical, HVAC, and engine performance, while maintaining safety and uptime.

You will work with leadership to identify repairs and ensure routes stay on time. The role involves hands-on diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and on-site collaboration, with opportunities for

Qualifications

• Experience diagnosing and repairing automotive and diesel systems.
• Knowledge of safety inspections and DOT/state inspections.
• Ability to log labor hours and parts accurately.
• Experience with electrical/common vehicle systems is a plus.
• CDL preferred, company offers training.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair automotive and diesel systems including brakes, steering, suspension, drivetrains, electrical, cooling, and fuel systems.
• Perform engine adjustments, rebuilds, and test drives to verify quality repairs.
• Complete required safety inspections and repair sign-offs before releasing vehicles.
• Maintain safe, organized, and compliant workspace according to standards.
• Notify leadership of unsafe conditions or needed repairs.
• Respond to road calls and perform mobile repairs when needed.
• Model professionalism, teamwork, and integrity in every task.
• Other duties as assigned.
