Job summary

Avon Public School is seeking a Bus Driver Trainee for the 2026/2027 school year. This part-time position entails completing the necessary training to obtain Arizona School Bus Driver Certification, which includes both classroom and on-the-road training.

Successful candidates will learn to operate school buses and must meet various Arizona state requirements. Applicants should have a valid Arizona driver's license and demonstrate a commitment to safety. Special characteristics include reliability and good moral character.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license with at least one year of driving experience.
• Must possess a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance card.
• Must be able to obtain CPR/First Aid certification, pass a medical review exam and physical performance test.
• Must pass a drug screen urinalysis annually.
• Must satisfy all requirements for an Arizona Commercial Driver's License within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Learns to become competent in the duties and responsibilities of the District Bus Driver.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills

Valid Arizona driver’s license

Good driving record

CPR/First Aid certification

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Understanding of traffic laws

Ability to work independently and as part of a team
