Job summary

Windham Northeast Supervisory Union in Westminster Station, Vermont, is seeking a School Bus Driver to safely transport students to and from school and activities. You will operate district buses in compliance with laws and district policies, maintaining a positive, respectful environment and ensuring on-time performance.

Requirements include a high school diploma, Vermont CDL with P and S endorsements (or ability to obtain), successful background check and DOT medical exam, clean driving

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid Vermont Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements, or ability to obtain and maintain required credentials (must be 21+ in accordance with State of VT requirements).
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and DOT medical exam and drug test as required by law
• Knowledge of safe school bus operation and student transportation practices.
• Ability to maintain a safe environment and manage student behavior.
• Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Clean driving record (no traffic citations in last 5 years)
• Ability to carry out an assigned route on time
• 2+ years working with children preferred
• Regular and punctual attendance

Responsibilities

• Safely transport students to and from school, field trips, athletic events, and other approved activities.
• Follow assigned routes and schedules and ensure students are safely loaded, transported, and unloaded and that appropriate permission is on file for alternate drop off locations as appropriate
• Monitor student behavior and enforce district transportation rules.
• Assist students with boarding, exiting, and other transportation needs as appropriate.
• Report student discipline, safety, and transportation concerns to the appropriate administrator in a timely manner.
• Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.
• Maintain assigned buses in a clean, safe, and orderly condition..
• Comply with all applicable transportation laws, regulations, and district procedures.
• Participate in required training, safety drills and attend monthly safety meetings
• Respond appropriately to emergencies, accidents, and student health concerns, completing accident/incident reports as needed.
• Maintain all required licenses, endorsements, certifications, and medical qualifications.
• Establish positive working relationships with students, families, staff, and community members.
• Maintain confidentiality of student and district information
