Job summary

REGIONAL SCHOOL UNIT #4 is seeking a full-time Bus Driver to provide safe transportation for students in the Litchfield–Sabattus–Wales area. The role requires a valid school bus license with endorsements, ongoing First-aid CPR training, and the ability to meet annual DOT physicals and drug/alcohol testing.

Responsibilities include pre-trip inspections, enforcing bus rules, transporting authorized students, maintaining discipline, and reporting incidents.

Qualifications

• Valid school bus license with endorsements.
• Ongoing First-aid CPR training.
• Ability to make sound judgments.
• Must pass yearly DOT physical examination.
• Must pass alcohol and drug tests.
• Adequate body strength to operate all mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Obeys all traffic laws.
• Observes mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
• Adheres to state laws and School Board policies for bus operation.
• Does pre-trip inspections each day.
• Enforces all school bus rules and regulations.
• Transports only authorized students.
• Maintains discipline when students are on the bus.
• Reports discipline problems and fills out incident reports.
• Adheres to assigned schedule and route.
• Discharges students at authorized stops.
• Transports students to/from extracurricular activities.
• Exhibits leadership on school trips.
• Maintains bus clean inside and out.
• Reports accidents and completes required reports.
• Notifies proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
• Attends workshops and training pertaining to transportation.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation
