Job summary

Suffolk Public Schools is seeking a Mini Bus Driver to safely transport students and staff on designated routes and field trips in Suffolk, Virginia. The role requires prep for daily routes and strict adherence to safety and district policies.

You will perform pre-trip inspections, maintain records, and ensure all students are supervised and depart safely at the end of trips. Immediate start with a full‑time schedule.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 19 years old by first day of school year and have three years driving experience.
• Must hold a valid driving record.

Responsibilities

• Safely drives on days when school is in session over designated routes and loads/unloads students at stops.
• Transports students, staff and others on field or activity trips.
• Inspects bus daily before transporting passengers to ensure safe, clean operation.
• Cleans and refuels bus as needed; ensures work order readiness.
• Verifies communication device is functional before each trip.
• Reports mechanical issues, violations, or accidents promptly.
• Maintains and submits required route timing and records.
• Ensures no child is left unattended and all depart safely.
