Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Must possess a valid Class B CDL with proper endorsements and have training or willingness to obtain NM state school bus driver certification.
• Must pass a DOT physical exam by a licensed physician.
• Must pass a substance abuse test as per policy and statutes.
• Must have current First-Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain.
• Must have a satisfactory driving record and background as a professional driver.

Responsibilities

• Operate a school bus safely and efficiently to transport students to and from school and activities.
• Follow local, state, and federal laws, and district policies.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus and equipment.
• Instruct students on emergency evacuation drills as required.
• Maintain orderly conduct of passengers and communicate professionally with students, staff, parents, and the public.
• Complete required reports and training in a timely manner.
• Provide maximum safety for passengers during loading/unloading.
