Job summary

Hillsdale County ISD Bus Garage in Hillsdale, Michigan is seeking a full-time School Bus Driver to join our transportation team. This position offers ongoing work year-round with the school district.

Ideal candidates hold a CDL with required endorsements, a good driving record, and the ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen. The job may require lifting and assisting students and maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

• CDL with S and P endorsements
• CDL A/B with P, S, and Air Brake endorsement
• School Bus Driver experience preferred
• Good driving record
• Possess Michigan School Bus Driver Continuing Ed card
• Possess BBDT Enrolment card or State of Michigan Continuing Ed. Card
• Good communication skills
• Participate in professional development
• Basic knowledge in first aid
• Maintain a working phone
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam and drug screen
• Be able to regularly lift 50 lbs., and push/pull up to 100lbs
• Specific vision required for this job includes close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision
• Demonstrate understanding of student and family confidentiality
• Attendance is an essential part of employment

Responsibilities

• Willingness to be trained in such areas as CPR, First Aid, Student Behavior Management, Student Crisis Needs (Medical), etc.
• Transportation of students with special needs
• Care of bus – (Standards specified by Transportation Supervisor)
• Maintain all certifications and standards required for this position
• Maintain confidentiality
• Assist students on and off the bus as needed (wheelchairs)
• Implement and follow all plans as related to transportation
