IDEA Public Schools seeks a Bus Driver to transport students on scheduled routes, ensuring safety and compliance with all regulations. The role emphasizes safety of all passengers, including special education students, and maintaining a bus in safe operating condition.

The position offers an hourly compensation of $19.00–$23.75 with eligibility for a performance bonus based on team performance and goal attainment.

Qualifications

• Education: GED or High School Diploma.
• Experience: Experience operating large passenger vehicles; or equivalent experience and training; ability to manage student behavior.
• License: Valid CDL with Class P (passenger) and S (school bus) endorsements.
• Completed bus driver safety training course.
• Must be over 21 years old.
• Pass alcohol and drug tests.
• DOT Physical Examination.

Responsabilités

• Drives a school bus safely on time schedules; transports students to homes, school sites, and field trips as assigned.
• Maintains order and proper discipline of passengers; resolves disputes and documents severe disciplinary cases.
• Conducts daily safety and operational inspections of the vehicle.
• Oversees loading/unloading of students and ensures seat belts are fastened.
• Maintains records and reports including mileage, routing, maintenance, and time schedules.
• Notifies appropriate staff of delays in scheduled routes.
• Keeps credentials (CDL, Medical Card, Region One) updated per DOT/IDEA policy.
• Adapts to changing circumstances and manages multiple tasks.
