Job summary

Dayton Public Schools is seeking certified bus drivers to transport students, including those with disabilities, in the Dayton area. Examinations are conducted by the Civil Service Board and details will be emailed to qualified candidates.

Responsibilities include operating a school bus safely, performing daily safety checks, conducting drills, reporting incidents, and maintaining student discipline for safe driving.

Qualifications

• Must have 4 years of experience operating over-the-road motorized vehicles.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must possess valid Ohio Class B CDL with School Bus and Passenger endorsements and no air brake restriction.
• Must be insurable and able to lift 50 pounds; pass annual physical.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Operate a school bus for the transportation of students including those with disabilities.
• Perform daily safety checks on bus and report any defects promptly.
• Conduct emergency and evacuation drills and complete incident reports.
• Maintain control of groups of students to ensure safe driving.
• Communicate with dispatcher using a two-way radio.
