Bradford Academy is seeking a dedicated bus driver to ensure the safe and timely transportation of students to and from various destinations. The role requires adherence to schedules, supervision of loading/unloading, and maintaining a positive, orderly bus environment.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, be at least 18, and meet DOT/MDOT requirements with a valid license and endorsements.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Meet all requirements established by the DOT and Michigan Department of Education.
• Valid driver’s license with necessary endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Safely operates a school bus as a substitute driver, adhering to designated time schedules for transporting students to and from various destinations, including home, school sites, and field trips as required.
• Supervises loading and unloading of students, ensuring safety belt usage and releasing students to authorized individuals.
• Upholds order and discipline among passengers, documenting serious disciplinary incidents.
• Conducts thorough accident investigations as needed.
• Maintains the bus’s safe and clean operation, reporting issues and performing routine maintenance.
• Collaborates with parents, supervisors, and staff to establish efficient student drop-off and pickup schedules.
• Follows routing and scheduling of buses and reviews bus stop locations for safety.
• Monitors students with health requirements during bus rides.
• Maintains comprehensive records including mileage, routing, maintenance and schedules.
• Represents the school professionally at meetings, programs, and trainings.
