Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age with HS diploma or GED.
• Possess a valid Class A or B with a "P" and "S" endorsement.
• Meet vision and hearing requirements.
• Acceptable driving record.
• Must be insurable.
• Must pass background and pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Conduct a thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspection of the school bus.
• Maintain exterior mirrors clean and adjusted.
• Perform school bus evacuation drills each school year.
• Know and obey road signs and signals.
• Keep interior of the bus clean.
• Maintain routes and schedules as planned by the local school board.
• Report hazards along the route to school officials.
• Exercise defensive driving, self-control, alertness, foresight, and good judgment while driving.
• Maintain discipline on the bus without compromising safety.
• Complete all discipline and maintenance reports as required.
• Remain alert to hazards such as weather, other vehicles, road conditions, and railroad crossings.
• Do not permit students to stand in the step well or loading area; ensure safety.
