The role requires a valid driver’s license with endorsements, a high school diploma, and compliance with DOT and Michigan Department of Education standards; prior school transportation experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Meet all DOT and Michigan Department of Education requirements.
• Valid driver’s license with necessary endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Safely operates a school bus on designated routes and schedules.
• Supervises loading/unloading and ensures safety belt usage.
• Maintains order and documents serious disciplinary incidents.
• Conducts accident investigations as needed.
• Ensures bus is clean and reports mechanical issues; basic maintenance tasks.
• Collaborates with families and staff to optimize drop-off/pickup schedules.
• Follows routing/scheduling and reviews bus stop locations for safety.
• Monitors students with health requirements and follows procedures.
• Maintains mileage, routing, maintenance, and schedule records.
• Represents the school professionally and participates in trainings.
• Assists with transportation policy development and other duties as assigned.
