Job summary

Somerton School District is seeking a part-time transportation assistant to operate a school bus and transport students on a scheduled route. Work is performed under supervision in all weather conditions; individuals must maintain discipline on the bus and complete necessary reports as required by the District.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess an Arizona commercial driver’s license and school bus driver certification.
• Fingerprint Clearance Card (IVP) required at time of hiring.
• Additional certifications may be required as specified by the District.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip inspection of bus.
• Transport students on scheduled routes.
• Maintain discipline on the bus.
• Prepare discipline reports.
• Perform post-trip inspection and report maintenance problems.
• Maintain mileage and student count log.
• Prepare incident reports as needed.
• Transport students on field trips and other outings.
• Wash and keep bus clean and orderly.
