Job summary

Rankin County School District seeks a Bus Driver to transport students on daily routes, assist with boarding and alighting, and uphold safety procedures on campus. The driver will contribute to crisis drills and maintain a clean, safe bus environment.

Candidates must have a High School Diploma, current MDE Driver Certification (or ability to obtain), a valid CDL with P and S endorsements, pass background checks, and meet DOT/Non-DOT medical requirements. On-site position with district oversight.

Qualifications

• Education Level: High School Diploma.
• Certification: Current MDE Driver Certification, or be able to obtain.
• Other Requirements: Pass background check, pass agility test, hold a valid Commercial Driver's License with 'P' and 'S' endorsements, or be able to obtain.
• Current DOT/Non-DOT physical, or be able to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Know, recognize and obey road signs and signals.
• Exercise defensive driving and good judgment at all times.
• Conduct a thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspection of the school bus.
• Maintain routes and schedules as planned by the local school board.
• Monitor hazards and respond to adverse conditions.
• Report any hazards along the route to appropriate school officials.
• Keep the interior clean and enforce no eating or drinking on the bus.
• Transport only authorized students.
• Maintain student discipline and report referrals to the principal and Transportation Director.
• Participate in safety drills and trainings.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Director.
