Job summary

Macon County Board of Education is seeking a reliable Bus Driver to operate a school bus safely and efficiently, following routes and schedules. The role requires a CDL and state licenses, a clean driving record, and fingerprint clearance before start.

You will maintain order on board and communicate with parents and school staff about routes and safety expectations. The position is full-time with 182-day terms and a strong focus on student safety, disciplined conduct, and routine vehicle

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• CDL license with appropriate endorsements.
• Bus driver license is required by the state.
• Ability to pass a drug and medical screening.
• Possess excellent driving skills and a clean record.
• Fingerprint clearance before start date.

Responsibilities

• Drive the assigned school bus on a predetermined schedule and route.
• Obey traffic laws, safety regulations, and district policies.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and report issues.
• Maintain order and discipline among students on the bus.
• Ensure safe boarding and alighting at stops with proper procedures.
• Communicate routes, schedules, and behavior expectations to stakeholders.
• Respond calmly to emergencies or incidents involving students.
• Assist students with disabilities as needed during evacuations.
• Report safety concerns and complete required district documentation.
• Complete routine maintenance checks and bus cleanliness inspections.
• Complete annual bus driver training and related duties.
