Job summary

West Stanly Middle School is seeking a part-time Bus Driver to transport middle and high school students in Locust, NC. The role includes mornings and afternoons, with a total of about 5 hours 15 minutes per day and a 26.25-hour workweek, plus partial benefits.

The driver will perform pre- and post-trip inspections, ensure safety, keep records, and follow all regulations while maintaining student discipline and assisting children with care and patience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must have at least 6 months of licensed driving experience (motor vehicle).
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Valid commercial driver's license with passenger and bus endorsements in North Carolina; on-the-job training offered.

Responsibilities

• Operate a school bus safely before and after trips and report any deficiencies.
• Transport students to and from school, activities and events.
• Keep bus clean inside and out; dispose of trash and manage cleanliness.
• Refuel and perform basic bus maintenance as needed.
• Follow traffic laws and safety regulations at all times.
• Maintain student discipline and complete disciplinary forms when required.
• Conduct periodic emergency evacuation drills.
• Record mileage and maintain required logs.
