Job summary

Summit School Services seeks a School Bus Driver Instructor to implement and oversee the company’s training program for drivers. The role combines classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction with testing and ensuring adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities include conducting sessions, evaluating driving abilities, maintaining records, and staying current with applicable laws. A valid CDL with required endorsements and DOT medical certification are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; teaching or transportation training is a plus.
• Commercial Driver License with appropriate endorsements and a clean driving record.
• Certification as a driving instructor per state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct classroom and behind-the-wheel training sessions for new drivers.
• Teach safety rules, defensive driving, and vehicle operation.
• Assess driving abilities and provide constructive feedback.
• Prepare employees for written and practical driving exams, and document progress.
• Maintain records of training activities and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with instructors and staff to improve training programs.
• Participate in safety meetings and support safety awareness initiatives.
• Provide retraining as needed and support ongoing driver development.
