Job summary

Charter One is seeking School Bus Drivers to serve American Leadership Academy-Lexington. Candidates must hold a CDL with S and P endorsements and pass a background check. Prior school bus experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities include safe student transport on defined routes, pre/post-trip inspections, fueling, maintaining discipline, and reporting any incidents. CDL, CPR/First Aid certification may be required as part of duties.

Qualifications

• Current Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with 'S' School Bus and 'P' Passenger Endorsements.
• Background check required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of students and staff on all school activities.
• Safely drive a school bus on designated routes and schedule.
• Transport students, teachers and others on field trips.
• Inspect bus daily prior to transporting passengers.
• Clean and refuel bus as needed.
• Confirm communication device is working before each trip.
• Report mechanical deficiencies or incidents promptly.
• Coordinate routine maintenance and transport bus to repair facilities.
• Maintain order and discipline per WPA policies.
• Track route timing and ensure no child is left on the bus alone.
• Inventory emergency supplies; participate in trainings and development.
• Travel to district buildings and other destinations as required.

Job description

American Leadership Academy-Lexington is accepting applications for School Bus Drivers. Candidates must be willing to undergo a background check.

Candidates must possess a Current Commercial Driver's License (CDL), with "S" School Bus and "P" Passenger Endorsements. Previous experience working as a bus driver for a school district is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Ensure the safety of students and staff on all school activities
• Safely drives a school bus on days when school is in session over designated routes in accordance with time schedules, loading and unloading students at designated locations
• Transports students, teachers and others on school field or activity trips
• Inspects assigned bus on a daily basis prior to transporting of passengers to ensure that bus is in good, clean and safe working order
• Cleans and refuels bus as needed
• Ensures that a communication device is in proper working order before each trip
• Reports all mechanical deficiencies, traffic violations, or accidents, promptly
• Arranges for and ensures completion of routine maintenance of bus (e.eg., oil change); transporting the bus to and from maintenance and/or repair facilities.
• Maintains order and discipline in an effective and courteous manner among students being transported in accordance with WPA policies and procedures; reports and incidents involving student discipline
• Observes and tracks route timing, such as total en-route, time between stops, loading and unloading times or any other requested information for the purpose of establishing route efficiency, as requested
• Follows procedures to ensure that no child is left alone on bus without adult supervision at any time, and that all children have departed bus at the end of all bus routes (morning, evening and during field trips or other special trips)
• Inventories bus emergency and first-aid supplies and equipment; reports need to the Director
• In case of accidents/emergencies, evacuates children according to written and practiced procedures, ensures that medical emergency procedures are followed; completes a written report as required. Attends and participates in trainings, and other continuing education, career and professional development opportunities. Travel to and from school district buildings, to vehicle service stations, field trip locations and other destinations are required.

Certification/License:

• Valid Driver's License with good driving record
• Current Commercial Driver's License (CDL) WITH "S" School Bus and "P" Passenger Endorsements
• School Bus Driver Certification, CPR/First Aid Certification
