Job Description

SCHOOL BUS DRIVER

QUALIFICTIONS

  • good knowledge of vehicle handling and safety techniques
  • good knowledge of traffic and highway safety rules, regulations and of local street and road systems
  • some knowledge of basic first aid, including CPR
  • ability to safely drive a school vehicle
  • ability to read, write and complete forms and reports
  • ability to effectively communicate with students, parents and school officials
  • ability to maintain effective control over groups of children or young adult students, and to ensure student behavior is not distractive to safe driving
  • patience with students who may become disruptive
  • good human relation and communication skills

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Completion of high school education or the General Equivalency Diploma (GED) supplemented by a valid Commericial Drivers License with Passenger and School Bus Driver endorsement; or any eqivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the abovve noted licensure, knowledge, skill and ability.

Commercial Drivers License with Passenger and School Bus Driver endorsement and a good driving record
