Job summary

First Student, Inc. is seeking a Diesel Technician in Troy, MI, to maintain and repair school buses, ensuring safety and reliability.

The role offers a full-time day shift, with a Monday–Friday schedule and year-round work. The position requires 1+ years of diesel or automotive maintenance experience or related technical schooling, a valid driver’s license (CDL Class B or can obtain within 60 days), and willingness to pursue ASE certification with company support.

Qualifications

• 1+ years diesel/auto maintenance experience or equivalent technical education.
• Must diagnose problems and perform repairs.
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL Class B or ability to obtain within 60 days.
• Willingness to participate in ASE certification program; company pays training.
• DOT drug testing for safety-sensitive role.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair school buses to ensure safety and reliability.
• Diagnose and perform vehicle maintenance including brakes, engines, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions.
• Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections.
• Complete work orders accurately.
• Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed.
