Job summary

Henrico County Public Schools seeks a Substitute Bus Assistant Area 1-5 to help transport students with special needs safely to and from school and activities. You will assist passengers, secure seating, and support the driver in safe operation.

Responsibilities include helping students board and exit, maintaining order, and ensuring compliance with IEP requirements. The role requires a high school diploma, 18+ age, and completion of pre-employment training. Pro-rated annual salary applies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum age for employment is 18 years.
• Must complete pre-employment training course for bus assistants.

Responsibilities

• Assist students on and off the bus and during the ride as needed.
• Ensure students are properly secured in seats or safety devices per IEP.
• Assist in bus safety drills and maintain interior cleanliness.
• Learn and follow bus routes, schedules, and stops.
• Support the bus driver in supervising student behavior.
