Job summary

Glen Ridge Board Of Education is seeking a Substitute School Bus Aide to support safe student transportation. The role reports to the Transportation Supervisor/Business Administrator and aims to assist the bus driver in maintaining orderly conduct and safety on the bus.

Qualifications include reading/writing ability, Board-determined experience, safety knowledge, and a background check with proof of citizenship or legal residency. Salary and work year are to be determined by the Board.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and perform assigned duties.
• Minimum experience as determined by the Board.
• Knowledge of bus passenger safety and effective discipline procedures.
• Criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

Responsibilities

• Assists the bus driver in maintaining student conduct on the bus.
• Assists young or disabled students in getting on and off the bus.
• Provides written records of violations of student code to the building principal.
• Collects personal items left on the bus and turns them over to the school secretary.
• Provides instruction to students regarding passenger safety and ensures that students wear their seat belts when the bus is so equipped.
• Participates in scheduled emergency bus exit drills.
