Job summary

Van Buren Intermediate School District Transportation in Lawrence, MI is seeking a Bus Aide to supervise students on the bus and assist the driver to ensure safe, orderly transport.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and completion of the State School Bus Driver Training Program, with preferred prior bus aide or driver experience. 5 hours per day, open until filled, 635 Blackman Street, Lawrence, MI 49064.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of State School Bus Driver Training Program required and ability to qualify for bus driver's license.
• Previous experience as a school bus aide or bus driver preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all students wear seat belts.
• Keep bus interior clean; wash windows, mop floor, dust seats.
• Discharge students in the presence of an adult.
• Provide first aid if needed and administer emergency treatment when necessary.
• Maintain order and discipline on the bus.
• Allow a child to exit only at regular stops, with parental direction.
• Prevent children from hitching on the bus when skating or riding bicycles.
• Prepare an accident report after any incident involving bus passengers.
• Assist students boarding and exiting the bus as needed.
• Assist the school in communicating with families and vice-versa.
• Notify the driver and office if absent.
• Substitute for bus driver as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Transportation Supervisor.
• Valid driver's license required.
