Job summary

Rutland City Public Schools is seeking a Bus Aide to support safe student transportation and a welcoming environment during pick-up and drop-off. The Bus Aide collaborates with drivers, principals, and staff to ensure orderly boarding and adherence to school rules.

The role includes light maintenance tasks, custodial support, and snow/ice removal as needed. A high school/trade degree is preferred; must have a Vermont driver’s license and be able to work under supervision.

Qualifications

• Vermont State Vehicle License is required.
• Ability to perform routine automotive preventive maintenance.
• Ability to work with children and adults.
• Ability to accept supervision.
• Experience in custodial or related work is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Bus Drivers in safely transporting students to and from designated points.
• Enforce bus rules and report infractions to administrators.
• Ensure students board and depart the bus orderly and safely.
• Maintain bus cleanliness and safety at all times.
• Provide custodial/maintenance tasks as directed.
