Job summary

Mansfield City Schools is seeking a School Bus Aide to support the Bus Driver and transport students safely for the 2025-2026 school year.

Duties include assisting with loading/unloading, maintaining order, and helping in emergencies. A high school diploma is required and pre-service training will be provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be physically able to lift and assist driver in loading and unloading handicapped students.
• Be of legal age, 18 years or older.
• Willingness to complete a pre-service training program.
• Ability to cope with stressful situations.
• A positive attitude.
• Ability to be flexible relative to job duties and responsibilities.
• A satisfactory report from applicable background checks every 6 years.
• Ability to pass a negative drug screening test at random.

Responsibilities

• Assist the bus driver in loading and unloading wheelchair students in a safe manner.
• Assist the students getting on and off the bus in a safe and orderly manner.
• Assist the bus driver in maintaining good conduct on the bus.
• Provide assistance to the bus driver in preparing written reports relative to violations of student conduct code and safety violations.
• Assist the bus driver in the identification of motor vehicles which pass the bus while loading or unloading with red lights on.
• Assist the driver in the event of a medical emergency involving a student.
• In case of an accident, assist the driver in evacuating the students from the bus and supervise the students at the accident location.
• Assist the driver in any situation that might occur to insure good discipline and safe riding practice.
• When necessary, aide should help children cross on busy streets.
• Assist driver in planning of routes.
• Participate in in-service training programs, as assigned and/or required.
• Abide by the Mansfield City Board of Education policies, rules, and regulations.
• Perform other reasonably related duties as may be assigned by the manager of Transportation Services and/or the Bus Driver.

JOB OBJECTIVE(S):
