Job summary

Catholic Charities of Fulton & Montgomery Counties is seeking a Student Assistance Prevention Specialist in Amsterdam, NY. The role delivers evidence-based prevention education, early intervention services, and community outreach to empower youth to make healthier choices.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a human services field, experience with youth, strong communication skills, and a NYS driver’s license; an OASAS credential is preferred or must be pursued within six months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Counseling, Education, or related field.
• Experience working with youth, counseling, families, or delivering presentations.
• Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
• Ability to take direction well and be a great communicator.
• A valid New York State driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
• OASAS credential (CPP, CPS, or CASAC), or willingness to begin toward certification within six months.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, evidence-based substance use/abuse prevention education and early intervention programming in schools and community settings.
• Empower youth with skills in decision‑making, communication, conflict resolution, and healthy relationships.
• Lead presentations, trainings, and educational activities for students, parents, school personnel, and community groups.
• Build strong partnerships with schools, community organizations, and prevention coalitions.
• Support individual goal-setting, assess program effectiveness, and maintain required documentation and reporting.
