Job summary

Effective School Solutions (ESS) is seeking a per diem school-based mental health therapist to join our California team, providing evidence-based services directly in public schools. You will deliver individual, group, and family therapy, conduct assessments, and collaborate with families, school staff, and multidisciplinary teams while maintaining timely documentation and licensure compliance.

This flexible role supports leave coverage and occasional longer schedules, with competitive hourly

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field.
• Active CA license (AMFT, APCC, ACSW or LMFT, LPCC, LCSW).
• 2+ years experience with children/adolescents.
• Experience training educators and parents on student mental health.
• Experience with schools, families, and community services.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with students, families and staff.
• Commitment to evidence-based care and best practices.
• Strong decision-making in evolving situations.
• Proficient in clinical documentation and EMR usage.

Responsibilities

• Provide school-based mental health services including individual, group, and family therapy, intake, assessments.
• Partner with families and facilitate parent support programming.
• Conduct risk assessments and crisis intervention with student safety in mind.
• Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans.
• Oversee day-to-day clinical operations of the school-based program.
• Serve as primary clinical contact for school partners and ensure collaboration.
• Facilitate weekly consultation sessions on goals and documentation standards.
• Collaborate with families and school staff to deliver coordinated care.
• Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing professional development.
