Job summary

Effective School Solutions is seeking a Per Diem School-Based Therapist for the Santa Maria region to provide school-based mental health services to students in collaboration with families and school staff.

The role offers flexible assignments, opportunities for professional development, and compensation ranging from $55.00 to $65.00 per hour. ESS emphasizes trauma-informed care and a supportive school environment.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field.
• Active license in California (AMFT/APCC/ACSW/LMFT/LPCC/LCSW).
• 2+ years working with children/adolescents with behavioral needs.
• Experience training educational professionals and parents.
• Experience with schools, families, and community services.
• Ability to establish trusting relationships with students and families.
• Proficiency in clinical documentation (EMR) and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Provide school-based mental health services (individual, group, family) and assessments.
• Partner with families and facilitate parent support programming.
• Conduct risk assessments and crisis intervention with referrals as needed.
• Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans.
• Oversee day-to-day operations of the school-based program.
• Serve as primary clinical contact for school partners and guidance on student support.
• Facilitate weekly consultations and ensure alignment on goals and documentation.
• Collaborate with families, school staff, and interdisciplinary teams; provide training on trauma-informed care.
• Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing professional development.
