Poplarbluffschools is seeking a School-Based Therapist to support students’ social-emotional well-being and academic success. The role develops intervention plans and connects families with community resources, working closely with school personnel to create a supportive environment.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree in a relevant field, is licensed or on track for licensure in Missouri, and has at least 2 years of related experience.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree required in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Clinical Psychology or related field.
  • Clinical licensure required for Mental Health Service provider (e.g., LCSW, LPC).
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in education, mental health or related field.
  • Missouri license as LCSW or LP counselor required or eligible for licensure supervision.
  • Valid Missouri Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct individual, family, or group-based therapy and psychoeducation.
  • Provide crisis intervention and risk assessment when needed.
  • Refer students, families, and staff to appropriate services.
  • Collect data and assess to develop mental health treatment plans.
  • Design and implement interventions to meet social-emotional and educational goals.
  • Collaborate with school staff, parents, and other providers.
  • Maintain confidential client records and clinical notes.
  • Deliver classroom-based strategies addressing social-emotional needs.

Position Overview:


The School-Based Therapist role supports students' social-emotional well-being and academic success by addressing behavioral and emotional needs, developing intervention plans, and connecting families with community resources. The therapist works closely with school personnel to create a safe, supportive environment for all students.


Qualifications:



  • Master's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Clinical Psychology or a related field.

  • Clinical licensure required for a Mental Health Service provider (ie. LCSW, LPC). Applicants who have met the minimum state requirements for licensure and are currently completing the required hours for licensure and are registered with a State Board for Social Workers or Licenced Professional Counselors approved supervisor, may apply.

  • Minimum of 2 years prior experience working in education, mental health or a related field.

  • The State of Missouri issued a valid, active license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor.

  • Approved registration of supervision requirements for a Licensed Master Social Worker working toward clinical licensure, or Provisional Licence Professional Counselor, and a letter of supervision commitment from the registered supervisor.

  • Valid Missouri Driver's License


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Provide direct individual, family, or group-based behavioral or mental health therapy and psychoeducation.

  • Provide crisis intervention, risk assessment, and management when needed.

  • Provide appropriate referrals for services to students, families, and staff members.

  • Provide data collection and assessment relating to the development of mental health treatment plans.

  • Design and implement interventions to help students meet social-emotional, individual, family, and educational goals.

  • Meet, collaborate, and regularly communicate with school staff, parents, and other service providers regarding student

  • Maintain service records, clinical case notes, and educational records securely.

  • Provide intervention strategies that may be implemented within the classroom to address individual and group behavioral dynamics, regarding students' social-emotional needs.

  • Must communicate clearly with coworkers, supervisors, and other staff members.

  • Carries out policies of the district, building, and classroom.

  • Maintains confidentiality of all students and classroom information.

  • Any other duties assigned by the administrator.


Physical Requirements/Environmental Factors:



  • Ability to work in a climate-controlled building, as well as in inclement weather.

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around for long periods of time.

  • Ability to see and read, with or without vision aids, a computer screen and printed matter, and to distinguish colors.

  • Sufficient hearing to understand speech at normal room levels, and to hear and understand speech on the telephone.

  • Manual dexterity to operate a telephone and enter data into a computer using both hands.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversation, on the telephone, and addressing groups.

  • Ability to exert up to 30 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

  • Ability to lift, bend, stoop, pull, grasp, and carry a variety of objects of different shapes and sizes.

  • Must hold a valid driver's license and be able to travel to buildings within the district.

  • Able to perform other duties assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
