Qualifications

School-Based Therapist Summary

The School-Based Therapist provides behavioral health assessment, counseling, crisis intervention, and therapeutic services to children and adolescents within the school setting. The therapist collaborates with students, families, school personnel, healthcare providers, and community agencies to improve emotional well‑being, reduce barriers to learning, and promote academic success through evidence‑based behavioral health interventions.

A Day in the Life

• Conduct behavioral health assessments and participate in diagnostic evaluations as appropriate.
• Develop and maintain individualized treatment plans.
• Provide individual, family, and group therapy.
• Provide crisis intervention and safety planning.

Requirements

Success Requirements

Education/Experience

Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related behavioral health discipline preferred. Experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, and families is preferred. School‑based or community behavioral health experience strongly preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Ohio LSW or LPC required. Higher behavioral health licensure designation preferred.

Physical Demands

Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

Primary work is performed in assigned school buildings with occasional travel.
