Job summary

Pawnee Mental Health in North-Central Kansas is seeking School Based Therapists to provide mental health care in schools and other locations.

You will travel to local school-based offices, conduct diagnostic assessments, deliver trauma-informed therapy, and collaborate with teachers, families, and the School Based Services Manager to create person-centered treatment plans.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Counseling, MFT, Psychology, Social Work or related field
  • Active LPC/LMFT/LMSW/LMLP license (or temporary license eligible)
  • Experience providing therapy to children under 17
  • Strong time management and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to work in a clinical team and independently
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Responsibilities

School Based Therapists at Pawnee have the opportunity to earn up to $9,000 per year in bonus pay by meeting their client care expectations and by holding groups. Compensation is structured based on licensure and scope of practice, with fully licensed clinical therapists eligible for higher starting pay due to independent practice authority and expanded clinical responsibilities.

What You'll Do
  1. Provide mental health care in schools, community and office based locations
  2. Travel from home office to local school-based office as assigned
  3. Provide psycho-educational services to the school community as assigned by School based Services Manager
  4. Serve as the expert clinical voice in school meetings including but not limited to trauma responsive support plans, IEP meetings, and SIT meetings for assigned schools
  5. Provide diagnostic intakes and SED waiver assessment services to K-12 youth using clinical training and the latest version of the DSM
  6. Deliver trauma-informed, evidence-based therapy services to individuals, families, and groups in the school setting
  7. Complete agency trainings up to and including certification in evidenced based treatment models
  8. Collaborate consistently with school community, other treatment team members, and natural supports to ensure a wrap-around approach is provided for continuity of care
  9. Create and maintain person-centered treatment plans based on clients' unique needs
  10. Demonstrate sensitivity to all cultural and ethnic differences.
  11. Provide clinical supervision toward independent licensing to staff as qualified by licensing and as assigned.
  12. Monitor client progress through ongoing assessment
  13. Meet administrative and clinical documentation requirements both in terms of content and timeliness.
  14. Meet direct service expectations in terms and comply with other established productivity standards as established.
  15. Maintain advanced knowledge and skills related to trauma informed school-based care through continuing education per state licensure requirements
  16. Perform all other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or other management personnel.
Requirements
Required
  1. Master's degree in Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, Psychology, Social Work or related field
  2. Current, active, unencumbered license as an LPC, LMFT, LMLP, or LMSW (a temporary license will be considered eligible)
  3. Experience providing therapy services to children under 17.
  4. Strong ability to manage time and prioritize tasks
  5. Ability and desire to work as part of a clinical team while also able to be self-directed and motivated with minimal supervision
  6. Strong interpersonal skills
  7. Ability to exercise sound clinical judgment in routine, urgent, and emergent clinical situations
  8. Ability to acquire and effectively practice new clinical skills as needed according to evolving agency needs/services
  9. Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office Suite
  10. Maintain a valid driver's license

All employees will be required to submit to and pass a background check and drug screening.

Preferred
  1. Independent clinical license (LCPC, LCMFT, LP, LSCSW)
  2. 1 year experience providing therapy in the school setting
  3. Familiarity with school community including MTSS framework and special education
