Job summary

Burrell Behavioral Health is seeking a School Based Support Specialist to deliver intensive outpatient case management and targeted interventions for students within Independence, MO. The role focuses on academic and social-emotional support, coordinating care across schools, families, and community providers.

You will work mainly on school premises during school hours, with outreach in homes and the community as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, behavioral health, or related field is required.
• Two years of related behavioral health experience if degree is unrelated.
• Complete DMH training standards as applicable.
• Illinois documentation and utilization procedures may apply depending on assignment.

Responsibilities

• Provide behavioral health interventions aligned with treatment goals in school-based settings.
• Support students’ coping strategies, social-emotional functioning, and daily life skills.
• Coordinate care with schools, families, and other service providers.
• Manage assigned caseload with timely, person-centered documentation.
• Provide crisis intervention and follow-up, including outreach for missed appointments.
• Conduct home visits and outreach as needed to support youth and family engagement.
• Assist with quality assurance activities, data collection, and contractual compliance.
• Participate in staff development, supervision, and performance evaluations.
