Job summary

Strides Therapy & Educational Services is seeking a School-Based Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in Waterford, MI to support students within educational settings.

The role focuses on improving communication and language outcomes through evaluations, therapy, and collaboration with educators and families.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
  • MI State licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure.
  • ASHA CCC-SLP certification preferred; CF applicants considered.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and diagnose speech-language disorders.
  • Perform comprehensive evaluations per MARSE and ASHA guidelines.
  • Provide direct services and plan interventions for identified students.
  • Document progress with objectives and long-term goals.
  • Collaborate with parents and school staff; handle Medicaid billing as needed.

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team of professionals, working collaboratively to support students' communication and language development in educational settings. Position Overview

As a School-Based Speech Language Pathologist, you will play a vital role in helping students overcome communication challenges, improve their speech and language skills, and achieve their educational goals. Your expertise will be essential in promoting students' overall success and well-being in the school environment.

Requirements

ASHA certification

Michigan State SLP Licensure or willing to obtain

Additional Details

In-person only

Must reside within 40 minutes of the school district

Master's Degree in Speech & Language Pathology, Valid full Michigan

License in Speech and Language Pathology

Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competency/ (CCC); CFs can be considered

Current LARA licensure

Must possess and demonstrate a strong understanding of the areas

standardized and informal assessment strategies related to communication disorders

Must be confident in the ability to conduct comprehensive speech & language evaluations

Plan and provide services for students who have been identified as speech and language impaired.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Evaluate speech and language functions

Complete, comprehensive, and appropriate evaluations according to MARSE

Standards, District Guidelines, and ASHA Guidelines

Provide a complete diagnostic summary report, including a summary of the evaluation information

Maintain communication with parents and other relevant team members

Document student progress through specific objectives and long-term goals

Complete Medicaid billing services are provided to students in an efficient, Comprehensive and timely manner

Participate in building designated teams to provide pre-referral interventions

When appropriate, make a referral for further evaluation

Provide direct services related to expressive, receptive, and pragmatic language

Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • MI State licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist. (if applicable)
  • Educator Certificate (if applicable)
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) unless a CF.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in private practice or outpatient settings preferred.
  • Knowledge of insurance billing and documentation practices is a plus.
  • Dedication to providing culturally competent and client-centered care.
