Job description

Description

YOU WOULD NOT BE A PLACEMENT. YOU WOULD BE A MEMBER OF THE TEAM.

Whole Child Therapy is a clinician-founded, clinician-led pediatric practice serving school districts across Southern California. We are not a staffing agency and we do not operate like one. When you join us you are hired directly by the practice that supervises you, paid

on a posted scale with annual step increases, and supported by a clinical leadership team that still carries a caseload. We are opening a school-based SLP position for the coming school year and we would like it to be the last school job you have to go looking for.

THE ROLE AT A GLANCE:

Position: School-Based Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)

Rate: $55 to $62 per hour, W-2, with annual step increases

Employment: Full-time, school-year calendar

Assignment: 1 to 2 school sites. Minimal drive time, no district-wide rotation.

Caseload: Your own caseload, capped at 55 students. Start to finish, no reassignment mid-year.

Supervision Load: None. This position does not carry an SLPA.

Credential: CCC-SLP preferred. CFY candidates are welcome and supervision is provided.

A note on pay: because there is no assistant paired to this position, there is no supervisory premium built into the rate and none is needed. The range above is straight base pay for your own clinical work.

Most school-based SLP openings in this area are filled through staffing agencies or through per-diem contracts. Those postings can advertise an attractive hourly number. Below is what our offer looks like.

  • Who Employs You: The Clinical Practice That Supervises You.
  • Employment Status: Direct W-2 Employee Of Wct.
  • Medical, Dental, Vision: Employer-Share Medical, Dental, And Vision.
  • Retirement: 401(K) With Profit Sharing.
  • Paid Time Off: 10 Pto Days, 6 Paid Holidays, And 5 Paid Sick Days.
  • Pay Progression: Posted Scale With Annual Step Increases.
  • Bonuses: Up To $2,500 Per Year In Completion And Attendance Bonuses.
  • Caseload Size:Capped At 55 Students. The Cap Is A Commitment, Not A Target.
  • Caseload Continuity: Your Caseload Is Yours For The Year, At 1 To 2 School Sites.
  • Clinical Support: Dedicated Weekly Mentorship From A Practicing Clinician.
  • Cfy Supervision: Provided In House. Cfy Candidates Are Welcomed.
  • Continuing Education: $300 Annual CEU Stipend.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Carry your own caseload. Up to 55 students at 1 to 2 school sites, including articulation, language, fluency, voice, and social communication.
  • Assess. Complete initial and triennial speech and language assessments, select and administer appropriate measures, and write reports that hold up in an IEP meeting.
  • Write and present IEPs. Draft present-levels statements and measurable annual goals, attend IEP meetings, and collaborate with the team on eligibility and service decisions.
  • Deliver service. Provide individual and group therapy plus push-in or consultative support in the classroom, matched to what the student actually needs.
  • Consult and coach. Partner with teachers, paraeducators, and families so strategies carry beyond the therapy room.
  • Support AAC users. Serve students who use or may benefit from AAC, with support from our in-house AT and AAC specialist.
  • Maintain documentation and meet Medi-Cal or district billing requirements, with administrative support from our operations team.
MENTORSHIP

Every clinician at Whole Child Therapy gets dedicated weekly mentorship with a practicing clinician, not a quarterly performance call with a recruiter. For a clinical fellow, that means structured CFY supervision that meets ASHA requirements and actually develops your reasoning. For an experienced SLP, it means a colleague to think through the hard cases with, and a leadership team that will back your clinical judgment in an IEP meeting.

We are led by clinicians. Our founder and CEO is a practicing pediatric occupational therapist and credentialed assistive technology specialist who still sees students. Clinical decision are made by people who do the work.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
  • Base pay: $55 to $62 per hour, W-2, set by a posted scale
  • Step increases: Annual increases built into the scale
  • Bonuses: Up to $2,500 per year in completion and attendance bonuses
  • Paid time off: 10 PTO days
  • Holidays: 6 paid holidays
  • Sick leave: 5 paid sick days
  • Health coverage: Employer-share medical, dental, and vision
  • Retirement: 401(k) with profit sharing
  • Professional development: $300 annual CEU stipend plus dedicated weekly mentorship
