Job summary

Newark Board of Education seeks a Speech Language Specialist to join the Office of Special Education in Newark. You will assess students with suspected language, articulation, fluency, and voice disorders and provide direct and indirect services to support academic performance.

You will serve as a case manager, prepare IEPs, participate in Child Study Team processes, and collaborate with teachers, nurses, and families to determine needs and goals.

Qualifications

• An appropriate New Jersey Department of Education Standard Certificate or eligibility for an Emergency certificate as required.
• Master's or higher degree in speech-language pathology or equivalent from a regionally accredited institution.

Responsibilities

• Assess students with suspected language, articulation, fluency, and/or voice disorders.
• Provide direct and indirect services to reduce or eliminate speech and language difficulties that adversely affect academic performance.
• Act as case managers and deliver therapeutic interventions for all students designated as eligible for speech and language services.
• Collaborate with the Child Study team and other stakeholders to determine needs, goals, and objectives.
