Job summary

Northwest Area Education Agency Sioux City is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist (full or part time) to provide specialized evaluation, instruction, and consultative services for students with educational difficulties within a multidisciplinary team. Immediate starting date; deadlines in 2027.

Qualifications include a Master’s in speech pathology and Iowa licensure, with eligibility for the IDPH license or temporary clinical license.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in speech pathology.
• Iowa professional service license or statement of professional recognition from the Iowa Department of Education.
• Iowa Department of Public Health speech pathologist license or a speech pathologist temporary clinical license.

Responsibilities

• Assist AEA/LEA problem-solving teams in designing, implementing, and evaluating intervention plans and making instructional decisions for students with communication, learning, or behavior problems.
• Participate in full and individual student evaluations, using analysis of interventions, planning, assessment, and reporting; determine eligibility for speech-language services based on state guidelines.
• Provide consultative services to parents, students, teachers, and others, including updating progress-monitoring data with case managers.
• Assist the AEA and LEAs regarding compliance with special education rules and regulations.
• Assist in developing and implementing IEPs and IFSPs, and provide support and related services as determined by the IEP team.
• Supervise student interns/CFY and ASHA as requested.
• Outline duties for the speech-language pathology assistant and provide guidance as needed.
• Develop and implement therapy plans for students to be implemented by the SLP assistant.
• Provide training for professional development and program planning to teachers, parents, and support staff when requested.
• Use technology to complete and disseminate documentation of activities and results.
• Adhere to relevant rules, IDEA Part B and C statutes, and Northwest AEA policies.

Education

Master’s degree in speech pathology

Iowa professional service license or state recognition
