Job summary

Nexus Family Healing is seeking a part-time Speech and Language Pathologist for the Safe Harbor School in Manteno, IL. The role provides a treatment program for youths with communication and swallowing challenges within a private, nonpublic school setting.

The qualified candidate will hold a Master's in Speech-Language Pathology, Illinois SLP licensure, and be prepared to work on a part-time, on-call basis with school hours Monday–Friday. Relevant ASHACCC/CCC-SLP credentials are preferred.

Qualifications

• Master's in Speech-Language Pathology or Communicative Sciences and Disorders
• Active Illinois SLP license required
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass IL DCFS background check
• CCC-SLP and ASHA certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Evaluate levels of speech, language, or swallowing difficulty
• Identify clients' goals for treatment
• Create and carry out an individualized treatment plan addressing functional needs
• Teach clients how to produce sounds, improve voice quality, and maintain fluency
• Help clients expand vocabulary and sentence structure
• Work on swallowing-related muscle strengthening with clients
• Counsel clients and families on communication and swallowing disorders
• Conduct assessments and therapy in classrooms and pull-out models
• Co-treat and co-teach options; provide individual and small group therapy
• Collaborate with SLPs, special educators and related service providers in a private school setting
