Job summary

The Illinois Association of School Administrators (IASA) is seeking a Speech and Language Pathologist to deliver diagnostic and therapeutic services to students with speech and language impairments within NSSEO and surrounding districts.

The role involves collaboration with staff and families, knowledge of second language learning factors, and use of assistive technologies to support IEP goals and student success.

Qualifications

• Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) endorsed for Speech and Language Pathologist (Teaching or Non-Teaching).
• Ability to travel within NSSEO and member districts as necessary.
• Ability to communicate effectively with professional staff and parents.
• Experience with students with special needs is preferred.
• Participate in twelve (12) hours of Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) training and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Assess students’ communication skills to identify disorders and develop recommendations.
• Collaborate with colleagues and parents to plan and implement effective programs, including AAC supports.
• Collaborate with staff and parents on oral motor development and feeding to support IEP goals.
• Collect, interpret, integrate, and synthesize evaluative information for speech/language interventions.
• Instruct students in the use of communication technologies (hearing aids, FM systems, AAC devices).
• Provide screening and diagnostic services for referred students to identify needs.
• Participate in meetings and provide in-service training to staff and parents for collaboration and professional development.
• Participate in IEPs for assigned students, monitor goals, collect and report data.
• Provide speech and language services using varied models to minimize impact on learning.
• Utilize and recommend technology and assistive devices to facilitate communication access.
