Arthur Center in Mexico, MO is hiring a School Based Services Supervisor to lead a clinical team delivering school-based and community mental health services for youth and families. You will supervise therapists, ensure service quality, and coordinate with the School Based Services Director on program initiatives.

The role requires QMHP credentials, Missouri licensure, and at least five years of clinical experience with youth and/or SMI, plus supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Meets the QMHP criteria per DMH regulation 9 CSR 10-7.140.
• Current Missouri licensure in a behavioral health field (LCSW/LMSW, LPC, PLPC, LMFT or equivalent).
• Minimum of five years’ clinical experience serving youth and/or adults with SED or severe mental illness.
• Prior supervisory or clinical leadership experience preferred.

Position Summary

Arthur Center is looking for an experienced, skilled School Based Services Supervisor who is ready to lead a clinical team doing meaningful, challenging work with youth and families across central Missouri. In this role, you will provide administrative and clinical supervision, program oversight, and direct support within School-Based Services. You'll supervise school-based therapists and specialists, guiding staff performance, ensuring service quality and regulatory compliance, and providing direct assistance during crisis situations. You will also work closely with the Director of School Based Services to coordinate and implement integrated school-based initiatives spanning behavioral health, primary care, substance use services, and family supports. Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Clinical and Administrative Supervision

• Provide clinical and administrative supervision, consultation, and timely feedback to School Based Therapists and School-Based Specialists.
• Monitor staff performance, caseloads, and the quality of direct care services provided to youth and families.
• Support staff through a trauma-informed and strengths-based supervisory approach that balances accountability with genuine support.
• Assist with staff recruitment, onboarding, training, competency development, and program coverage.

Intake, Documentation and Compliance

• Provide oversight and assistance with the completion of referrals, screenings, intake processes, assessments, admissions, service assignments, transfers, and discharges.
• Review and approve clinical documentation to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, DMH core rules, program-specific requirements, and organizational policies.

Crisis Response and School Coordination

• Assist the Director, staff, and school partners with urgent needs, high-risk situations, crisis intervention, safety planning, and appropriate follow-up.
• Provide consultation and coordination support to schools and families navigating complex behavioral health situations.
• Assist with attendance, coordination, and facilitation of community training, workshops, outreach, and School Based Services group programming.

Program Operations and Integrated Initiatives

• Assist the Director with daily program operations and the implementation of integrated school-based services and initiatives.
• Support coordination of integrated programs spanning behavioral health, primary care, substance use services, prevention activities, and family supports.
• Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.

Skills and Attributes

• Strong clinical judgment with demonstrated competence in assessment, treatment planning, evidence-based intervention, crisis intervention, de-escalation, and safety planning.
• Skilled supervisor who leads through both support and accountability using trauma-informed, strengths-based methods.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across a dynamic program environment.
• Knowledge of child and adolescent development with the ability to build therapeutic rapport, engage families, and select age-appropriate interventions.
• Culturally responsive and respectful of individual choice, self-determination, community integration, and least restrictive environment principles.
• Working knowledge of mental health diagnoses, psychiatric medications, the mental health delivery system, DMH regulations, dual diagnoses, and the relationship between physical and mental health.

Required Qualifications

• Meets the criteria for a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) per DMH regulation 9 CSR 10-7.140.
• Current Missouri licensure or provisional licensure in a behavioral health profession required -- including LCSW, LMSW, LPC, PLPC, LMFT, or other qualifying credential applicable to scope of practice.
• Minimum of five years of clinical experience providing services to youth and/or adults with serious emotional disturbance (SED) or serious and persistent mental illness required.
• Prior supervisory or clinical leadership experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Requires extended periods at a computer for documentation and administrative work.
• Occasional travel to schools, client homes, and community settings as needed.
• Must be able to provide physical crisis intervention when necessary.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
