Job summary

Speech Pathology Group & Rehab Services of CT (SPGCT) is seeking a Pediatric Physical Therapist (PT) or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our school-based therapy team in Connecticut. This role focuses on children’s mobility, participation in school activities, and collaboration with educators and related service providers.

The position offers opportunities for flexible full-time or part-time schedules, with a pediatric-focused environment and options to grow within a multidisciplinary

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering pediatric physical therapy in school settings preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate with teachers, families and related service providers.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate students and determine PT needs for school-based therapy.

The Speech Pathology Group & Rehab Services of CT (SPGCT) is growing and looking for a passionate Physical Therapist (PT) or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our school-based therapy team in Connecticut.

This is a great opportunity for a pediatric PT/PTA who enjoys working with children, collaborating with educators and related service providers, and creating fun, functional therapy experiences that help students participate more fully in their school environment.

In addition to physical therapy, SPGCT offers families a broad scope of services including speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, ABA, and aquatic therapy, creating exciting opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration.

ResponsibilitiesSchool-Based PT/PTA Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
  • Evaluating students and determining appropriate physical therapy needs, as applicable
  • Conducting family interviews and providing education regarding therapy recommendations and student needs
  • Creating individualized treatment plans based on each student's functional needs and goals
  • Providing treatment to improve strength, mobility, balance, coordination, motor skills, posture, and functional movement
  • Supporting students with developmental, orthopedic, and mobility needs
  • Implementing therapy in fun, creative, and engaging ways appropriate for each student
  • Assessing student progress and modifying treatment approaches as needed
  • Supporting students' ability to safely participate in school activities and routines
  • Providing instruction and education to students, families, and school staff regarding safety, positioning, mobility, and home exercise programs when appropriate
  • Collaborating with teachers, families, school staff, and other healthcare and related service professionals
  • Participating in multidisciplinary collaboration opportunities
  • Supporting appropriate use of adaptive equipment, assistive technology, orthotics, and mobility devices
  • Maintaining timely and accurate documentation and billing
  • Participating in department, school, and PT staff meetings as appropriate
  • Ensuring student health, safety, dignity, and well-being at all times
Pediatric PT Experience
  • Performing additional responsibilities as assigned by administration
  • Experience with some or all of the following areas is highly valued:

  • Daily care activities and routines

Requirements
  • Current Connecticut Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant license, as applicable
Previous Pediatric Experience Required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively with children and families
  • Ability to safely assist, transfer, and support students as needed
  • Physical endurance and ability to work with patients and equipment
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong organizational and clinical skills
  • School-based experience is a plus
Aquatic/swimming Experience Is Preferred But Not Required
  • A passion for working with children and helping them reach their potential
