Job summary

Northwest Suburban Special Education Organization seeks a Physical Therapist to join a multidisciplinary school team. You will participate in IEPs and meetings, assess students’ motor performance, and develop therapy plans to promote mobility and safe access to education.

The role involves direct and indirect therapy in school settings, collaboration with teachers, administrators and parents, supervision of PTAs or assistants, and maintaining confidential records in line with FERPA and HIPAA.

Qualifications

• Hold current license from the State of Illinois to practice Physical Therapy.
• Must be physically able to provide therapy to students aged 2–21.
• Ability to travel within NSSEO and districts.
• Pediatric and special education experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in IEP and team meetings, including parent conferences, to determine the need for physical therapy as a related service or accommodation.
• Gather information from parents, students, and team members regarding motor performance in school settings.
• Conduct evaluations using screening instruments and standardized tools to identify need for PT services.
• Formulate therapy plans for students and provide direct/indirect PT in educational settings.
• Coordinate PT interventions within the school program and advise on adaptive equipment and safety.
• Supervise PTAs or assistants and communicate evaluation information to staff and parents.
